Political Sites

The idea phase of PeopleCount began in 2011. One exercise was to search for sites about politics and talk to their founders (when I could reach them), about what more might be possible. In 2015 I began keeping better track of them and put together this list of political sites, which I add to occasionally.

It would certainly be nice to organize them better, and even give a short write-up for each. Better would be to make a Wiki for them.  Participedia.net has their own wiki, but I don’t believe they’re adding previous sites to it.  DesigningOpenDemocracy.com has a page for Australia and another for the rest of the world, but they haven’t yet created a page per organization.

My intention is for this article to turn into the first one of several about these sites, with links to the others in the following list:

  • There are a few for-profit sites generating enough revenue to sustain themselves.
  • A couple failed with plentiful funding.
  • Some are established, and supported by donations or universities.
  • A few others are starting up, or still have hope.
  • Some have not really begun yet, or are in the process of trying.
  • Some are inching along, supported by one person, or an organization.
  • Many had little or no funding, and failed.
